This illustrates a useful point, Dan. Your first pic dimensions are 400 x 332 pixels and the file size is 28.5 KB. The picture could have been uploaded at twice the size - probably much nearer the size of the photo that you originally took - and there is plenty of room for increasing the detail in the photo without exceeding the board limit of 300 KB.

Now that we use thumbnails for the initial view of all pics on GH, the opportunity to upload larger pics with greater detail is very useful. A click or two will enlarge most pics for better (more detailed) viewing.

If you could resize a copy of your original first photo to 800 x 664, save it just under 300KB, then post it again, it would be a useful comparison.
