Rob, In every endeavour in life there are always critics.
Don't let that detract from the fun YOU have had having a go.
I for one remember my first efforts at watch photography and you have exceeded those by a considerable margin.
Your pictures are appreciated.
I nearly bought a case like that once. Alas it turned out to be one of the few ebay purchases I have made that went bad.
I suspect the guy changed his mind about selling it. I got my money back but would rather have had the case.

Terry, Thanks for your contribution. Those 2 cases appear to be in fantastic condition.
I believe there are people who collect those cases and try to get as many variations of the decoration as possible.
I believe there are more than a few.

For Rob and everyone.

Some, most or all of the pics in our posts are thumbnails size representations. They are quite large for thumbnails and I often forget to click on them. You have to click on the photo to get the full resolution. I did not notice this initially, but some of the pics looked unusually fuzzy. My guess is the emailer was looking at the low resolution thumbnail pic, because if you click on Rob's pic, you will see an excellent pic of a truly GORGEOUS watch & case. I understand why you were upset with the email.

Yes I realize this Stephan but this group was the last place I expected to hear such a comment. I usually let it roll off but for some reason this bothered (more like upset) me for some reason.

The watch is a Appleton Tracy model 77 nickel movement 15 jewels.

Rob, I get this crap from the main board most of the time I put something up for information, hence that`s the reason I don`t put posts up there unless I really need too. Some people think they know it all, but in reality know very little. Regards, John

 What I meant to say was . . .

Appleton Tracy was top-of-the-line for the '77 . . . & . . . all too often these high end cases had lower end movements if for no other reason than just as a matter of economics.

Am I the only one who finds this editing tool frustrating???

Robert:

If you took my reply as a rude thought...you are mightly mistaken.

You know me better than that!

In fact, I offered a compliment...saying that beautiful timepiece deserved to be shown in its full glory.

I really think you are completely mistaken by taking my compliment in the wrong way!!!!!

Sometimes a comma, a period, an explanation point...can be cause to confuse. Even a well-given compliment!

Rob,
Forget the past and accept my compliments on that beauty of a photo you posted-Wow!

I just got in on this-for some reason my eyes kept skipping over the competition-so I have ONE more day of the extension to get busy...Good luck to both of us. :D
Keep winding things,

I just want to take this opportunityto thank all those who helped make this happen.
Tis easy to come up with ideas but without peoples support and willing hands behind the screen to pull the levers nothing would happen.
So thanks all and make sure you cast a vote.
