Which wristwatch are you wearing today?

New postby Adam Dubin » Sun Jan 20, 2008 9:51 pm

Partly to attempt an attachment, partly to continue this favorite thread of mine ;) from our former home, I will inaugurate it here on Global Horology.

Today I have on my Rolex 5513 no-date Submariner, from 1970 or so. Everything is original but the luminova (yuck) bezel pearl...

Adam, I've missed this thread. Thanks for starting it! I don't usually wear a watch around the house on the weekends, but here is what I'll be wearing at work tomorrow.

I mostly wear a pocket watch, but was wearing some slacks Friday night that did not have a watch pocket and wore this LeCoultre.

Today was the European market only Hamilton 64028-4, a 21-jewel, full rotor automatic, running beautifully (losing about 7 seconds per day). Purchased at the end of November. The case is similar to Hamilton's electric Taurus, but the case is larger and the dial is different.

Mr. Seymour,

As mostly an Illinois/early Hamilton collector, I love your DH "Man O' Fashion"! Every time I see one for sale, I want to buy it. One went fairly cheap on Ebay the other day, and I kicked myself afterwards. Is the dial on yours original or did you find someone who has the original plans?

Regards,

Rick

Because I just picked this one up today, I can't show you much, but I wanted to share this one.

Hamilton's are a new item for me, especially since it's from around 1971, and an automatic (swiss) but I do like it, so I'm going to share, and hope you guys can tell me something about it. I can't believe I purchased a Swiss Hamilton!

Take a look.......... OOOPPPPS I think I put them in backwards! I did- so ..............sorry

Rick,
The "Man-O-Fashion" is a great watch. I believe this dial is original. Case and movement were wonderfully restoreed by Ralph Rehner. I am still looking for the square version called "Playboy".

Yesterday and today I wore my Bulova Accutron RR Aproved. But don't have a shot of it on my wrist, so this will have to do.

Here's an oddball that's my daily wear watch. It was in a junk box from a chapter mart -

What makes it odd is even though it has a "waltham" name (obviously after the closing of the American Waltham company) it has this on the inside... A Seiko Sportsmatic (cal 6601A) in camouflage. After cleaning, it now keeps perfect time.

Today I have on my earliest Omega, ca. 1926 by the movement serial number, this sterling silver cushion with porcelain dial. I don't think the crown is original to the watch (but it has the Omega logo).

Today's watch is a Hamilton 0-size, with a late numbered 983 movement 1256594, and in a Fahys gold-filled case.

Just got this 1938 bubbleback (ref. 3134) back from my watchmaker, after 4 months! Seems that the auto-wind mechanism needed to be rebuilt, and previous hack repairs undone, in addition to an overhaul. It's within chronometer specs now... I love that mirror track dial...8-)
