Stop works

New postby veritas » Sat Sep 27, 2014 7:59 pm

I have only one clock in my collection with stop works. It is a 15 day runner, Seth Thomas 86 c, with two main springs. They dont seem to be a common thing from what i have seen.

OK Kevin,I'm getting sucked in to clock discussions again-and you know how painful this is for me.
I am curious;does it resemble an old KW stop works?
Keep winding things,

I finished my stops, one is ok the other not. The purpose of them is to make the clock run down in a controlled manner, better time keeping. The only clock i own that has them is my Seth Thomas 86 c clock movement, weight driven grandfather clock. Here is a picture of the stops i made, one is not bad the other not great, could not see my etched lines very well.
The parts i made are on the bottom of the picture.

Kevin,
If you need stops for a Seth Thomas, I'm pretty sure I have some lying around. Just need to know the diameter.

Thanks for the kind offer Ray. This was just a class project on how to make them.
