HELP

New postby Marty101 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 12:17 pm

I have noticed that some pics are larger than the allowed space, but can be slid up/down so as to see the whole shot.
That is a great way to show larger photos but I can't figure out how this is done...any tips? :?

Do you mean pics that are posted here, Marty? Most people post pictures that are much smaller than they need be. Anything up to about A4 size will show well on here, as long as the file size is not too big (up to 300K). 72 dpi is all you need for pc screen viewing.

Glynn-you lost me. "A4" and "dpi" are foreign to me;what I know is that GH accepts from Picasa 480 pixals at most, and that's what I send here.
But let me try and clarify what I meant by "larger than the allowed space". I mean the picture can only be partially seen at a time, say the top 1/2 of a pocket watch. The bottom half can be viewed by using the "slide" on the pictures right hand edge to move it up. Inside the allotted space the top half scrolls up, disappears, and you can see the bottom half. This feature enables a much larger image in a smaller area-see?
Can I do that?

Marty,

I use a MacBookPro or an ipad to access this board. On both of those machines, if I click on a thumbnail pic it will change to its proper size. If that size is too big for my screen, then I can scroll up and down the pic to bring the part that I need to see into view.

The settings for attached pics on this board are as follows:

Thumbnail pics (which are automatically created by the message board system for all uploaded attached pics, unless they are very small) - maximum 400 px wide and 8Kb file size. All attached pics are initially shown as thumbnails. This allows for faster page loading and scrolling through posts.

The actual attached pics (what you see when you click on the thumbnails) - maximum 1100 px x 1600 px, with a maximum file size of 300Kb.

That's why I wrote that most pics posted here could have larger dimensions.
