Waltham travel Clock

New postby Dch48 » Sun Apr 02, 2017 8:48 pm

Would anyone possibly have a travel case for a Waltham 8-day clock? It's a size 37 clock that were used as car clocks but were also sold as travel clocks in folding cases. I have the clock. I need a case.

Yes, the folding leather covered travel case that some of the clocks came with.

That's it but mine has a fancier dial with a blue ring that contains the markers and fancy gilt hands. You wouldn't have a case you'd be willing to part with by any chance?

Do you mean a soft fold up case like the one I had on eBay or a metal case for the watch?

The folding case that holds the watch as a travel clock. My clock is on it's way back to me after getting a COA to make it run more than a few hours at a time. I'd love to have the travel case for it.

One used to be able to buy replacement cases from the jewelry supply houses. Maybe one of the remaining companies still has one in stock?

There used to be several jewelers' supply houses in Los Angeles, where I live. Friedman-Gessler, Borel-Frei and others. Back when I was starting out in collecting I went in to one of them (I don't recall which) and bought a nice green leatherette folding travel clock case. The cases wore out with use and replacements were common. This was back in the '60s or '70s. I haven't looked for a case in years, though. In the years since, as the companies have gone out of business, others have purchased their stock and you may still be able to locate one.

But my clock was made in the 1920's, I think 1926. I doubt any company would still have stock.

The folding case I bought in the 60s/70s was for a 1920s clock. They were made as replacements for the old travel clocks. Some may still be around. Good luck!
