I purchased this a while back this Autumn. I believe it is old, at least a 100 years old, it folds up, so i am thinking sold through a mail order store like Eatons or Simpsons Sears.
looks like Walnut to me. I have a nice old clock picked out to put on it once mounted on the wall.
If this is not the place for it, please move to the right forum.

Really a nice piece, I bought an old clock shelf myself last fall, although I must admit I am into antiques as well as watches and some clocks.

Kevin,
I just saw this post and had to comment that this is a shelf for a spring wound Cuckoo Clock. This would have been an added luxury item in its day...

Thanks Ray, have you seen a cuckoo on a shelf like this before, just wondering. The man who had it before had a gingerbread clock on it, i dont have the shelf up yet as i have not gotten around to do some painting at home.

Kevin,
Yes I have. There were some early cuckoo clocks made that looked similar to gingerbread clocks, only they were carved out like conventional cuckoos with a base to stand up on a shelf. Also, as I mentioned before they were key wound from the front. I have seen them on eBay from time to time...
