NAWCC Poll?

New postby Marty101 » Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:31 pm

Is the NAWCC trying to shut down Global? I just received a survey from the NAWCC to fill out (and I did) concerning my opinion of Global's worth. It seems the thinking is that the NAWCC no longer believe places like this are needed-that we all would naturally flock to them if sites like this disappeared. :o
Yeah. Sure.
Next they'll raise my dues.
Keep winding things,

I took the poll and told them that I find this message board as necessary as theirs. We are able to express different opinions on this board than we can on the NAWCC board, even discuss values which I find a big help at times. How does everyone feel about this?

Why possible motive would the NAWCC have in performing a poll? Was this poll mailed to you?

I have not seen this poll but perhaps they are talking about chapter 192 which they are not able to differentiate from Global.
As far as I can see 192 is still listed by them as an active chapter even though it has long ago expired.

Takes them a while to work stuff out.

Would it be possible to post the entire poll here? What was the exact wording?

Glyn - Do a Google search thus " NAWCC Chapter 192"

Could this be what the survey is about. ?

Stephan, among others, that search returns this: http://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?t=51773

I didn't want to comment on this poll, as I haven't been an NAWCC member for some months past but it seems clear that NAWCC does not want to let the chapter lie dormant and is attempting some administrative tidying up.

Many months ago, I made some considerable effort to find new leaders and workers for Chapter 192, with no result. Since then, GH has hosted the chapter archives, easily accessible to chapter members.

This "informal poll" does not affect us at GH, so I hope nobody gets concerned about any effect it might have on our on-line community. :D

I think the planets are lined up ... a party sounds like a good idea.

Yes, let's have a party with as many registered users and members on-line as we can get. January 2nd would be free for many. I'll do some work on the back channel with the more active members and see what we can come up with.

Sometimes the people who run things are just out of touch. Take this, for example. From my experience in starting NAWCC Chapter 192, I can safely say that it matters not how many officers or leaders you have, if leadership is not being shown and if work is not being done. From the beginning, we had a fine body of leaders and officers but the chapter achieved nothing ... meanwhile, this message board continued to grow and serve its members, which I why I came to consider Chapter 192 to be redundant. Very few argued with me over that point.

Yet, the recent informal poll from NAWCC makes no mention of vision, leadership, work, etc. only this:

6.

If Global Horology Chapter #192 is reactivated, would you be willing to serve as a Chapter Officer?

Finding people to serve as chapter officers is hard enough. Finding people to put in the work and effort to make a chapter successful is much harder. Less than a handful of people did put their time and effort into the mix but most did not.

192 will never be re activated because the clowns in charge just can't get it in their heads that people won't pay a full NAWCC membership fee just to use a web site no matter how good it is.

I did not get the poll. And lately i am not impressed with those in charge of the NAWCC.
I like it here better, and the rules here are enforced. And i prefer the friendlier environment here.
As far as the party goes i should be around. :D :D

I thought Glyn was kidding when he mentioned a party. :o
How do you have a party online? Hmm..this sounds like a great idea. I'll certainly be around, and I'd like to hear more about how and what. :D

There must be a police video of me taking a beating during my drunk and disorderly days. I'd like to offer that as my proof of celebrating. Perhaps I could post the letters from the attorneys sent on behalf of the lovely Kate Beckinsale? That would be good for a chuckle.
