Blue & Gold Hands

New postby Marty101 » Tue Feb 16, 2016 3:51 pm

Is anyone familiar with fancy blue and gold hands? The few I have seen are very fancy with blue top, gold stem, and blue hub. I doubt they are American. Someone asked me about them maybe a year ago, and I came across 7-8 mostly mismatched hour/minute hands.

I have seen them too - mostly on Swiss KW watches. I am not sure how they are like that.

Thanks Neil. I figured you would know! Somebody asked my for help with a missing hour or minute, and I told them chances were slim to none. Now here I am with a few of these strange hands. I suspect they are after 1920 anyway maybe quite a bit after. I understand here in America KW production had ended by then, correct? Do you know if the Swiss were still producing KW's at later dates?

No they stopped before WW1 too. I have not seen 2-color hands on later watches myself.

I have seen these, mostly on old (late 1800s) ladies' KW watches. I'm not really sure about the age, but that was my recollection.
