Interesting Basket Case

New postby watchguy » Tue Mar 11, 2014 11:58 pm

This Seckron looked pretty bad when I acquired it. Luckily all the 980B specific parts were included. All the missing parts came from a donor 982 movement.

Derek,

Great save! Do you have the rest of it?

Thanks Phil,
I only have what you see. All I need now is a case and a seconds hand, lol.

Any idea what that second hand looks like? Maybe I can scare one up for you.

Thanks Marty.

I found a good picture of what it should look like...

It's about 5mm long and requires a long post, as there is a spacer under the dial.

Good luck with finding the case - many of them got scrapped.

I personally never attempt to restore a watch unless I know I have or can get everything for it. Otherwise the project and wish box just grows and grows.

Right. I suppose I should have just thrown it away.

Better yet - put it up for sale, get your money back and then some, and it will become someone else's project/wish list watch. Use the money to buy one that is complete and in GRO! :)

LOL. Seriously, it's hard for me to pass up a basket case, when I know I can at least get it running again. I did find a seconds hand. and it's been up for sale on eBay, in case someone has a case, but no movement.

Derek extra long posts can be tough-how long is it? I hate to offer, fail you,and have you pass one up on ebay in the meantime. If we have a little leeway I can hustle and send pics if I get lucky,OK?

Hi Marty,
Thanks for looking, but I was able to find one that looks almost identical to the original.
