Friends I've been asked to help with the restoration of these hands. Before I get started, can anyone tell me if the bezel is snap-on,screwed,or what?
Thanks-

Marty, is that one of those eastern European made cases? Wouldn't know where to begin with that one.

Rich, all I have to offer is a "duh". Just hoping to find out what I'll be facing soon. I rarely accept cased wristwatch hands but hey,I'm a sucker when somebody really wants help. This is a good guy and I want to help and encourage any way I can.
Maybe I can get more data/pics...Here-not much but maybe...

Marty,

I would look for a subtle relief in the lip of the bezel and back, but would suspect snap fit covers. Without such evidence of course wouldn't attempt anything with a knife.

On a side note: wonder what the dial is made of and is it modern. Looks very well made from the pics.

Marty,
Looks like a recase of a pocket watch movement to make a large wrist watch.

All of these I have seen are snap on bezels, with a very tight fit.

What size is it?

Thanks Jim-I don't have it in hand-yet. But you are correct,it is a recase. I don't know Gruen but the fact she was a Very Thin got me to wondering what was up here.. my customer decided to pass,so I'm out of this one.
I've seen so many different PW case variations that to start messing with wristie cases without help seems foolish. Twice now I have rolled a razor along the bezel seam and got lucky...but it's nerve wracking when you know it's a guess. Still fun though.
