Established in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, near Dresden in Germany.

In 1898, Kaiser Wilhelm II ordered a magnificent A. Lange & Söhne pocket watch as a gift to Sultan Abdul Hamid II on the occasion of a visit to the Ottoman Empire.

In 1945, on the last day of World War II, Lange’s main production workshops were bombed and in 1948, the company was expropriated by the communist regime and turned into a people’s collective.

The Lange brand disappeared until German reunification in 19190, when Walter Lange returned to Glashütte and re-registered the traditional trademark of A. Lange & Söhne worldwide.

Since 1994, the company has re-established its reputation as a source of high-grade horology. See the A. Lange & Söhne website.

In 2000, Lange joined the Richemont Group.
